Why Ada & Ina linen bedding?

We love linen. And because we do, we use only the finest flax sourced from Normandy, France. Normandy is renowned for its flax cultivation and yarn production, and is home to local farmers who have, for generations, been honing their craft. There, flax grows in glorious sunshine and nourishing rainfall. Why is this important? Because optimal weather conditions are vital to growing and producing high-quality flax yarn. Which is why we use their flax, and why, with us, you’re guaranteed quality linen fabrics.

Our bed linen is also exceptionally soft. Linen fibre is naturally quite rough, and while there are various ways by which you can soften the fabric, we use a technique called pumice stone wash – for the most comfortable feel. Stone washing increases the softness and flexibility of the fabric, giving you bedding that feels fabulous and looks relaxed.

We also believe in sustainability and being eco-conscious. All our bedding is OEKO-TEX® certified. This means they contain no harmful substances and comply with eco-friendly standards.

We carry linen bed sets in a variety of colours, styles, and bed sizes (including Single, Double, King size and Super King size). Choose from ready-made duvet cover sets, pillowcases, and flat or fitted sheets. We also sew made-to-measure linen bedspreads, valances, and cushion covers – if you want to cover your bed from head to toe with 100% linen.

What are the benefits of our pure linen in bedding?

Did you know that linen is considered to be one of the oldest fabrics used by humans? It was a symbol of purity and luxury, and was valued highly for its many benefits including:

  • It’s hypoallergenic and antibacterial.
  • It’s simple to clean. Flax naturally repels dirt, which allows it to stay clean longer than bedding made from cotton fabric. It’s easy to wash too – all of our bedding can be washed in the washing machine. What’s more, because our bedding is made from 100% natural linen, it feels softer and looks better with every wash.
  • It’s perfect for hot summers since it’s cool and breathable. It’s also ideal for cold winters since flax fibres are hollow and trap air to keep you warm and cosy.
  • It can absorb up to 20% of its weight in water, and so stays dry and comfortable for hot sleepers.
  • It gives your bedroom an elegantly relaxed look. And you can tastefully crease the linen to give it and your bedroom a bit of texture.

Our bedding is finished with lovely details. Our linen pillowcases have beautiful borders, and our linen duvet cover sets come with coconut buttons to open and close the covers. The sets are luxuriously comfortable and look so refined that you won’t need a bedspread (though you can, of course, get your own bespoke linen bedspread).

Create dreamy bedroom with Linen

Linen’s natural texture gives a relaxed, effortlessly chic look to bedrooms. Shop our 100% natural linen bed sets and sheets, a perfect match with our linen curtains and our other bespoke products made of linen fabric. Linen has a timeless, effortlessly luxurious look, which never goes out of fashion. Linen duvet covers or pillow cases adds texture and depth to bedroom decor. Our linen comes in a variety of earthy, muted tones that complement most color palettes and are chosen carefully so they would stand the test of time also. Unlike many fabrics that degrade over time, linen actually softens and looks better the more you wash and use it. That is why bedding made of 100% linen is often called heritage or heirloom bedding – and investing in high-quality bed sets is about durability, luxury and comfort.

FAQs

Is linen bedding better than cotton bedding?
We firmly believe so, yes, though this will come down to personal preference. Linen bedding is more breathable and quick to dry, making it ideal for hot sleepers and hot summers. It's also more durable and will last for longer. Plus, despite its distinctive texture, pre-washed linen bedding is very soft and comfortable, and only gets softer and more comfortable with subsequent washes. The pro that cotton bedding holds over linen is its price point, though we would argue that linen bedding is an investment that will last for longer.
How do I wash linen bedding?
It's a common misconception that linen is difficult to care for, or that it must be dry cleaned. Our care guide for linen bedding is relatively simple. You can either hand wash or machine wash your linen bedding. If you hand wash, then make sure to do so in a clean basin or sink. However, hand washing will not get rid of stains. (If you have stained the fabric, it's best to tackle the problem immediately. Sprinkle baking soda and a few drops of vinegar on the stain. Blot the stain to soak up the moisture.) If you machine wash, then make sure to use your most gentle washing cycle, and to set the temperature to 40° celsius. Do not overcrowd the washing machine so your bedding can move around freely and does not get pulled and lose its shape. Make sure that any other items in the washing machine are similar in terms of colour, weight, and washing instructions.
Do I have to iron linen bedding?
No. Linen Bedding is looks best when it appears “relaxed” and slightly creased. The soft finish in our bedding will ensure that the creases do not look sharp – it is softly creased through-out and it looks so inviting. Do not waste you precious time on ironing linen. However, if you prefer ironed bedding, this is possible of course. You will get the best results by using a good quality iron which has powerful steam functionality. Or simply just iron the bedding when the linen is still slightly damp after washing it.
Why thread count is not important factor when buying linen bedding?
Thread count counts the number of threads woven per square inch. In cotton, a higher thread count usually means a softer, denser fabric. But for linen, the quality of the fiber and the weave matter more than the number of threads. Linen is made from long, thick flax fibers that are stronger and coarser than cotton. Because of this, linen fabrics naturally have a lower thread count but still feel durable and breathable. Linen’s natural breathability comes from its loose, open weave and fiber properties, not a high thread count. A very tight weave would actually reduce airflow and comfort.
Is linen scratchy?
Not if it’s good quality! Our linen bedding is pre-washed. And each wash makes it cozier, comfier, and more “can’t-get-out-of-bed” worthy.
Why does linen wrinkle so much?
Because it’s linen! Wrinkles are part of its charm. Think of them like the soft waves in beachy hair - effortless, natural, and low-key luxurious. (But yes, you can iron it if you're feeling fancy.)
Is linen good for hot sleepers?
Absolutely. Linen is super breathable and naturally moisture-wicking, so it keeps you cool, dry, and comfortable all night long. Bye, night sweats.
Can I use linen in winter too?
Yes! Linen is thermoregulating, meaning it keeps you cool in the heat and warm in the cold. It’s basically a genius fabric that adjusts to your body and the seasons.
Why is linen more expensive than cotton?
Because it’s made from flax, which takes more time and care to produce; Stronger, more durable, and longer-lasting; Basically the slow fashion of bedding; Think of it as a long-term investment in amazing sleep.
What’s the difference between flax linen and other types of linen?
Flax linen (especially from France or Belgium) is considered the gold standard. It's made from high-quality, long-staple fibers that are smoother, stronger, and more breathable. Translation: it's the good stuff.
Is linen eco-friendly?
Yes! Linen is made from the flax plant, which needs less water, fewer pesticides, and grows quickly. It's biodegradable, sustainable, and all-around kind to the planet.
Can linen bedding last a long time?
Oh yes. With the right care, linen can last decades. It’s stronger than cotton, doesn’t pill, and gets better—not worse—with time. Consider it your forever bedding.
